Our Story

Tree House Estate is a tiny boutique vineyard in the heart of Martinborough owned and operated by Greg and Nickie Sheehan and their three children.

Our adventure into wine started as a holiday whim in 1998. While staying in a cottage at a Hawkes Bay vineyard, Greg casually remarked that he’d quite like to own a vineyard one day.

Seven years later, having recently moved from Auckland to Wellington we decided to visit Martinborough to see why people made such a fuss about the place. Nickie’s father, Murray West had been a long time fan of Martinborough wines and one of Ata Rangi Vineyard’s earliest supporters.

One visit was all it took. The climate, the atmosphere of Martinborough’s village, and the opportunity for a more relaxed lifestyle for our family was too much to pass up and before we knew it we were the proud owners of a 2 1/2 acre property complete with 2000 Pinot Noir vines.

Named for the tree house which overlooks the vineyard from a hiding spot in an old walnut tree, Tree House Estate produces premium hand crafted wine. We hope that you will gain as much pleasure from drinking our wine as we’ve had in bringing it to you.
